Young Kim

Creative Director, Brand development, based in London

At Smith College, Young’s work as a studio art major was complemented by an array of courses from Russian literature to education. These multiple perspectives informed each other in surprising ways—and helped shape her approach to design. Armed with a clear point of view, Young enrolled in New York’s School of Visual Arts to develop the skills to put her theories into practice. She’s been creating resonant, layered brand experiences ever since.

The brand programs Young builds are beautiful because they work. She collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the most effective and holistic approach to solving a client’s business challenges. And she doesn’t stop until she finds the precise balance that expresses that brand perfectly—with inevitably elegant results.

Young’s approach has implemented many successful brand-building activities for consumer brands, financial services, healthcare, technology, educational institutions and non-profit organizations. Her client roster includes American Express, Allstate, Emblem Health, McAfee, Motorola, Pfizer, SAP and The New School.

Before joining us, Young was senior designer at Stark Design in New York where she directed design work on corporate identity programs, interactive experiences, packaging, book jacket design and advertising. Her clients included Prudential Securities, Beacon Press, W.W. Norton and the New York Times Magazine.

In addition to her BA from Smith College, Young earned a BFA in communication design from the School of Visual Arts. She has received design awards and has been published in AIGA, American Identity, BrandNew, Brand Identity Essentials, Graphis, Rebrand 100, Identityworks and The Global Awards.
