Michelle Matthews

Associate Creative Director, Brand development, based in New York

Michelle made her first design decision as a young girl, when a large bright, yellow butterfly landed on her fluorescent pink bikini. She decided then that shape and color were an amazing combination. Years later, her keen eye for original, striking images inspired her work on many iconic logos and visual identities, such as Aflac’s duck, MasterCard WorldWide’s interconnecting spheres and—in an echo of her very first design epiphany involving a color and a butterfly— both UPS and MSN’s highly recognizable visual identities. Our clients count on her expertise, along with a passion for their causes, to make their visual communications unique and exciting.

At Siegel+Gale, Michelle has led her team in creating everything from merchandising pieces that motivate desire to complete brand refreshes that visually capture the entire essence of brand for clients including CooperVision, the Y (YMCA), KeyBank, Penske and KAUST.

Before coming to Siegel+Gale, Michelle was at FutureBrand, directing the design of major global brands including UPS, Bausch&Lomb, Care, Cargill, Chase, ExxonMobil, GM, Intel, Marriott, Ortho McNeil, Phillips, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (BPO) and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).

Michelle earned a BA in graphic design from the University of Mississippi and did extensive design graduate work with the Portfolio Center and the University of Memphis.
