Johnny Lim

Creative Director, Brand development, based in New York

Johnny is influenced by many things: the kind of discipline it takes to become a master chef (“Students of the culinary arts work at the slicing station for months, honing their skills”), the fresh insights triggered by traveling everywhere from great metropolitan cities to the mountain trails of Machu Picchu, Shakespeare, movies, food, music. “There’s inspiration in everything we see, feel, taste and hear,” he says. Johnny’s breadth of interests fueled years of skill development—the designer’s version of working in the slicing station—across a variety of media and project types. In his decade at Siegel+Gale, his work as both a contributor and a team leader ranges from brand identity, print systems, publication design, architectural signage, exhibition design, photography and website development.

Johnny’s clients include American Express, Bank of America, Berklee College of Music, Florida State University, Ingersoll Rand, Intelsat, Motorola, Pfizer, SAP, Sappi Fine papers and the United States Mint.

After studying mechanical engineering at Cooper Union and graphic design at Rutgers University, Johnny began his career at CKS Partners (which eventually became MARCHFirst) designing and implementing identity and communications systems for clients that include CareerBuilder, IBM, Millipore Corporation, NFL Europe League and NPR.
